Vegetarians avert your eyes now
Well done to Slow Food Limerick and Caroline and Joe at Rigneys Farm in Curraghchase who held a fab open day last Sunday. Roast Tamworth pig on a spit, bees horse-shoe making and shoeing made for a fab day out for a huge turnout of families and supporters of good food.
The day was really well organised with something for everyone. For some strange reason the sight of three strapping brothers making horse shoes and putting them on the horse had a lot of Women's attention.
Darina Allen was there too and she made a lovely speech about food and families and how Limerick has really put itself on the map in recent years with the Slow Food movement and with such a huge support coming from locla people who make the effort to buy local produce from our markets and small producers.
Darina said she was a big fan so we had our picture taken together!
For lunch we all queued up for the tastiest burgers, made from Rigneys own short-horn cattle. You could of course have a porky bap and Ponaire coffee as well as the best sparkling apple juice from The Apple Farm in Tipperary
Ahhhh
And just because my son took theses nice pictures of pretty flowers

Hi Guys, McNean Farm, Slow Food Limerick is just two years old and was begun by a food lover and can be started by anyone with an interest. Maybe you could be a player in NI??

Great article. Such a shame that the Slow Food Movement isn't as busy in N.I.

Hahahahaha that is some hardcore pig roasting right there. The baby piggies are adorable... but wow I bet that pork was awesome!
