Every year in September a great day happens in Ireland, it's the biggest coffee morning in the country. Bewleys sponsor this event that happens in homes, schools, cafe's and all sorts of places all over in aid of the Irish Hospice Foundation. This year it's on Thursday 20th, that's almost today. Our hospice in Limerick is Milford Care Centre and the centre has profided excellent pallative care for some of our closest friends in the neighbourhood. They are privately funded and rely greatly on fund-raising events. So, if you do plan on popping out for a cuppa today then find a sign where they are doing the coffee morning and some of your money will go to the cause. Oh yes, don't forget that if you go to a coffee morning in somebody's house you are likely to get all sorts of yummy cakes to go with your brew.
My Mum hosts a coffee morning at their home and I had great intentions to bake and bring until the week got insanely busy. So I did what any self-respecting friends of a baker would do, I called Laura to bake me a batch of her finest cup cakes. No, I won't pretend I baked them myself! Best of all, I get to eat some myself, and it's for charity!
